Your Adventure Partner in Pakistan

HUNZA TOUR & BATURA GLACIER TREK

This tour takes you on an adventurous trek through the stunning northern region of Pakistan. Your journey begins with a visit to Lok Virsa Museum, Faisal Mosque, and Daman-e-Koh in Islamabad. The next day, you will fly to Gilgit, where you can rest and freshen up before hiking to Jutial Valley. From there, you will continue to Karimabad, where you will spend a day exploring the area, including the historic Baltit Fort.

The tour then takes you to Passu, where you will spend an afternoon visiting nearby villages before embarking on a trek to Kirgas Wask, traversing the Batura Glacier to Yashpirth and then Gutshim. You will have two free days to explore the local area, including Lupdur and Vartum Valley, before returning to Yashpirth and trekking to Vojhokpirth.

The Batura Glacier stretches west, near the upper Hunza village of Passu on the Karakoram Highway (KKH), for about 58 km.  It is the most easily accessible of the glaciers that the Karakorams are bestowed upon.  Its existence is mainly due to the Batura wall and the many peaks that tower above, which include ten peaks above 7000m.  The ablation valleys on either side of this majestically sweeping glacier hold pastures where the local villagers of Passu and Hussaini, take their herds of sheep, goats, and yaks to graze in summer.

The trek on Batura glacier is indeed one of the finest treks that northern Pakistan has to offer with the added advantage that it is relatively easy, with no technical traverses involved.  The gradient can be judged by the fact that at the KKH, just beyond Passu, where the trek starts the altitude is approx. 2,400m and at Gutshism, the last summer settlement & camp, it is approx. 3,450m.  Most of the trek is an easy walk along the moraine of the Batura with the tricky parts being the two glacier traverses.

The following day, you will cross the glacier walk down to the Karakoram Highway, and drive to Passu. After that, you will hike to the monument of Mughul in Gilgit to enjoy the breathtaking view of the city. You will then fly back to Islamabad and spend a day exploring the twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi. On the final day, you will be transferred to the airport for your outbound flight. This tour offers an unforgettable experience for adventure seekers and nature lovers who want to explore the rugged and beautiful terrain of northern Pakistan.
